Ronan Keating reportedly rushed back to Ireland on Saturday to be with his family after the news of his brother Ciaran's death in a fatal car accident.

The heartbroken singer is supporting his brother's family after he was named as the victim of a car crash on the N5 near Swinford on Saturday.

Ronan, who was with his wife Storm when the tragedy happened, has left his wife Storm and dropped TV commitments, it's been reported.

Before the tragedy, Ronan and his wife Storm were tagged in Instagram photos and videos of them at a golf club near St Albans.

A source said: “It’s the phone call no one wants to take about their loved ones. Ronan dropped everything as soon as he heard the devastating news.

“He is trying to stay strong for the sake of the family and is doing everything he can to support his sister-in-law and his nephews.”

“Ronan is just absolutely devastated. He lives for his family. This is a cruel bolt from the blue,“ the source told The Sun.

Ciaran was travelling with his wife, Ann Marie to watch their son, Ruairí play for Cork City FC in a clash with Sligo Rovers, when the collision took place, it's been reported.

The fatal car accident occurred at around 3.55pm on Saturday with Ciaran suffering fatal injuries in the collision on the N5 at Ballymiles on a stretch of road known as an accident black-spot.

Ciaran's wife Ann Marie was taken to Mayo University Hospital to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries while the male driver of the second vehicle is understood to be receiving treatment for serious injuries in hospital. A male passenger in the second vehicle has also been hospitalised.

Ciaran is survived by one sister Linda, two brothers Gerard and Gary as well as his own family and young brother Ronan.

Ciaran, helped to to set up the Marie Keating Foundation, after the death of their mother from breast cancer in 1998.

The foundation paid tribute to Ciaran and said: "Ciaran was such a great supporter of our work and often acted as relief driver of our Mobile Information Unit in the West when time allowed. He joined us recently to celebrate 25 years of the foundation at our annual celebrity golf classic.”

In a statement Cork City FC added: “All at Cork City FC are deeply saddened at the passing of Ciaran Keating, father of our player Ruairí Keating. We extend our deepest sympathies to Ruairí and the entire Keating family at this exceptionally difficult time. May he rest in peace. We ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be confirmed in due course.”
