WIMBLEDON fans are still laughing at the amazing moment Clare Balding appeared to give John McEnroe a 'death stare'.

The tennis icon was on the receiving end of a stern look from the BBC presenter earlier this week.

Balding and McEnroe had been courtside at Wimbledon along with Tim Henman and Tracy Austin.

However, Balding was not pleased by McEnroe making light of his fellow American Austin's input into the discussion.

McEnroe joked: "Tracy how are you by the way? Everything you have said so far has been unbelievable."

Balding responded by saying: "We were just waiting and then I was going to bring Tracy in."

She also stared across at McEnroe for several seconds, much to the amusement of viewers at home.

One fan reacted by tweeting: "Oh my god this was so awkward. Clare Balding with the death stare and blink at McEnroe."

Another added: "Still thinking about this from last night. I have literally never got so much second hand embarrassment from something before yet it’s so funny."

Meanwhile, a third fan simply said: "She hated that."

Balding has led much of the BBC's Wimbledon coverage from the All England Club this month.

She has regularly appeared courtside with both McEnroe and Henman during the tournament.

However, she was forced to apologise for McEnroe's potty-mouth during one broadcast.

The incident came after the three-time Wimbledon champion had shocked fans with a daring look.

Wimbledon ends on Sunday with the men's singles final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.

The pair are facing off after the women's singles concluded on Saturday, with Marketa Vondrousova beating Ons Jabeur to win her first Grand Slam title.
