Stuart Broad's fiancée, Mollie King, pulled no punches in a comedic dig regarding her favourite English cricketers
England’s second most prolific Test seamer and recently established ‘Nighthawk’, spoke about a cheeky dig he received from his DJ wife Mollie King after England beat Australia at Headingley to keep the Ashes alive.
With the Ashes on the line, the English Test team headed to Leeds for the third Test of the series. The team included the recalled Mark Wood and Chris Woakes, both of whom proved to be pivotal in the result of the match.
Woakes would bowl well throughout the match, taking six wickets across both innings and contributing key runs with the bat. His effect on the game would be most significant in England’s run chase, as Woakes would score a crucial 32 not out to see England home, keeping them alive in the series.

For followers of the English Test team, this was a moment of ecstasy in a nail-biting yet disappointing series, after two very close defeats at Edgbaston and Lord’s. Broad, however, pulled back the curtains slightly on the mindset in the English dressing room, as well as the reaction from those near to him.
Broad comments on the mood in the dressing room after the victory in his column for the Mail Online . He wrote “The mood when Wiz [Chris Woakes’ nickname] hit the winning runs at Headingley was quite business-like”, further adding that the squad knew they “had more to do” to win the coveted Ashes.
Broad also explained an interaction he had with his fiancée, Mollie, following the conclusion of the game.
Broad states how Mollie told him "He [Woakes] was her favourite player, to which I replied: ‘What about me?’ She said ‘You’re second.’ Thanks very much!” in a comedic exchange between the two. Broad, however, was also full of praise for his England teammate, commenting “Woakesy’s just an amazing cricketer”.
The couple were first rumoured to be dating in 2012, being in an on-off relationship until they split in 2018. They would, however, rekindle their relationship in 2019, with Broad proposing to King on New Year’s Day, 2021.
In June 2022, the couple confirmed that they were expecting their first child, and subsequently announced the birth of their daughter on Instagram in November of that year. Although they have yet to officially tie the knot, the couple are clearly fully intent on sliding their marriage whenever their busy schedule allows, with Broad referring to King as “my wife” on social media and in columns.
