Liverpool will be aiming to get their new Premier League season off to a flyer as they take on Chelsea on Sunday.

The Reds travel to Stamford Bridge with Klopp and his players keen to get an early win under their belt. Liverpool will also be aiming to fire a message to Moises Caicedo - the Ecuadorian having appeared to turn down a move to Anfield in favour of Chelsea.

That has forced the Merseysiders to look for alternatives amid their search for much-needed midfield recruits. Take a look at all of the rumours coming out of Anfield over the past 24 hours:

Lavia move ‘close’

Southampton boss Russell Martin has hinted that Liverpool target Romeo Lavia could be on his way out of St Mary’s sooner rather than later. The Belgian midfielder - who is of interest to both Liverpool and Chelsea - was left out of the Saints’ squad for Saturday’s 4-4 draw against Norwich.

Speaking after the game, Martin said: "He has been great while his situation has rumbled on for a long time. That needs to draw to a conclusion quickly for him, for us and for everyone really.

"It’s eeking slowly towards a conclusion and I think we have been preparing for life without him for the six weeks we’ve been here so it’s not a massive drama."

Man Utd plot Thuram hijack

Whilst Liverpool have been strongly linked with moves for both Lavia and Caicedo over the past few weeks, one of the early names to potentially be drafted in was Nice star Khephren Thuram. Unfortunately for the Reds, it appears that they now have more competition should they revive their interest in the Frenchman.

As per Get French Football News, the Red Devils sent scouts to Nice to watch Jean-Clair Todibo in action against Nice - the defender potentially being eyed as a replacement for Harry Maguire. Whilst there, they also kept a close eye on Thuram.

The 22-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract with Nice. He played 57 minutes of Nice’s opening league game as the two sides drew 1-1.

One final option to add to their midfield ranks this summer could potentially be Andre Trindade. According to Globo, the 22-year-old is being considered for a switch.

However, Liverpool may have to change their plans slightly. It is suggested that Fluminense do not want to sell him until at least January.

The Reds remain interested but are debating whether to move for him now or to wait. It is claimed that Sporting Lisbon and Fulham are both also interested in signing him.
