Former England cricketer Chris Tremlett has undergone a stunning body transformation since retiring from the sport – and was spotted in the stands watching Thursday’s fifth Ashes test.

Tremlett was a member of the pace attack in England's last Ashes triumph in Australia back in 2011, when the tourists secured an emphatic 3-1 victory Down Under. He was the bowler that sealed that memorable victory when he bowled Michael Beer in Sydney.

Back and then knee problems that both required surgery then kept Tremlett out of the international scene for 18 months. His last appearance at international level was in 2013, against Australia, while he continued playing county cricket for Surrey for a further two years before retiring, aged 34.

Tremlett’s career at the top level of cricket brought great highs but no shortage of fitness frustrations, with continual injury issues cutting short his career and taking its toll on his body – which he has transformed since retiring.

Tremlett, 41, is an avid fitness lover and regularly shows off his body transformation on his social media pages. Always a strong and athletic build during his playing days, he has piled on muscle in the subsequent years – reflecting the time he spends in the gym.

Standing at 6ft 7in, his physique played a part in his fearsome bowling technique that caused top-class batsmen no end of problems, but he now has a frame that would appear he had a decades-long career as a bodybuilder rather than a cricketer.

During his career, Tremlett played for Hampshire and Surrey at county level. He represented England in 12 Tests between 2007-2013, taking 53 wickets – but it was the 2010-11 Ashes series Down Under where he really starred, being the leading wicket taker for either side.

He was also a regular at One Day International (ODI) level for his nation between 2005 and 2011. Tremlett took 15 wickets in as many matches and took 75 scalps in just 59 matches in the T20 format.

Tremlett was taking in the fifth Ashes test at his former team Surrey’s home at The Oval, speaking to MasterChef co-presenter Gregg Wallace and just a few seats down from Stephen Fry. England need to win the test to avoid a series defeat, although Australia have retained the urn thanks to their 2-1 lead after four matches.
