A man has been arrested and charged after the dramatic high-speed pursuit in Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.
A black Volkswagen Golf was in collision with two other cars, leaving a driver and passenger in one of the vehicles seriously injured.
Other people suffered minor injuries, police say.
A man has now appeared in court accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in connection with the incident.

Josh Boyle, 20 and from Huddersfield, was remanded in custody at Leeds Magistrates' Court yesterday and is next due at Leeds Crown Court on September 12.
He is charged with aggravated vehicle taking, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, disqualified driving, failing to provide for a drink driving procedure and failing to stop for police.
Burnt-out cars could be seen in the road after the crash outside Harvey's Bar and Kitchen in the town.
Onlookers described how the vehicles "exploded" in flames as huge columns of smoke billowed into the air.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene, while a police helicopter flew overhead shortly before 9pm last Friday.
One eyewitness posted online: "Police chase crash outside Harvey's in Fenay Bridge."
Another said: "Major incident outside Harvey's. I saw the smoke from my house and heard a big bang."
A third advised: "Avoid Harvey's Fenay Bridge. Serious car accident and cars on fire and exploding. Stay safe."
West Yorkshire Police's Sgt Cameron Buchan said: "Multiple enquiries remain ongoing today into what has very clearly been an extremely serious collision."
He appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or had dashcam footage to contact police.
