FULHAM are close to agreeing a £4.5million deal to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea.

The Blues winger is desperate to secure a permanent move away to ensure regular playing time in the coming season.

Hudson-Odoi struggled on loan at Bayer Leverkusen last season and was also a target for former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri at Lazio.

But Fulham are close to agreeing what could prove a bargain fee should the 22-year-old be able to rediscover his early Chelsea form.

Personal terms are not yet agreed between Fulham and the winger, who has three England caps.

The Cottagers have already secured a new deal for Willian following his fine season last term and completed the £5million signing of Raul Jimenez from Wolves.

Chelsea are keen to move the academy graduate on as Mauricio Pochettino looks to trim his bloated squad.

The owners are also seeking to balance the books after huge spending last season.

But fans are in disbelief at just how much Hudson-Odoi's value has fallen over three years.

Reacting on social media, one person said: "Mad to think Chelsea rejected a £70m from Bayern Munich just a few seasons ago."

Another added: "Can someone tell me what happen to Hudson-Odoi?????????????"

A third replied: "Four million is approximately free to me. Funny how Hudson-Odoi used to be Chelsea's saviour some seasons ago."

And a fourth responded: "£8m for Hudson-Odoi?! That’s a bargain and a half. But the disrespect from Chelsea."

Hudson-Odoi, who joined the Blues as a young boy in 2007, has racked up 126 appearances and 16 goals for the first team, winning the Champions League, Europa League, Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic have already joined AC Milan, while Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic have all been allowed to join Premier League rivals.

N'Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy have all made moves to Saudi Arabia and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has joined French side Marseille.

But Chelsea's clearout is not over yet.

West Ham are in talks over a deal for Conor Gallagher while Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku will leave Stamford Bridge before the window closes on September 1.
