For the most part, The Bachelorette is real, but former contestants have provided insight into some of the show's somewhat scripted elements.

Although the show doesn't follow a strict script, the footage is edited to fit a narrative.
Contestant Luke Stone once called out Bachelor in Paradise producers and claimed that episode footage was edited to look like he was rejected.
Is Charity Lawson from The Bachelorette engaged?
Reality Steve took to Instagram on July 27, 2023, to reveal his "spoilers" for The Bachelorette season 20 finale.
As per his post, Lawson is engaged to Dotun Olubeko.
"I know it seems pretty obvious at this point it's Dotun, but just got the confirmation I needed in the last couple days," he wrote to his 260thousand followers on the social media platform.
"Doubt will be out there, there is every season, but all I can say is what I always do: I trust my sources on this one. Charity and Dotun have been happy and engaged since the end of April when filming completed."
Before her Bachelorette stint, it is unknown who Lawson was dating, however, she has revealed her previous relationship was "emotionally abusive."
"I never honestly felt what it feels like to be seen as a partner or to be seen as a girlfriend," Lawson told Zach Shallcross.
