A seven-year-old boy who suddenly died was "the sweetest, kindest, and loving little boy", his heartbroken family has said.

Irish-American son John Quinn was the youngest of his siblings and his death has shattered his family. His aunt Elizabeth Hughes says his siblings may need therapy after his death in a tragic accident in August.

And friends and relatives have come together for the family, to help with the costs of an unexpected bereavement. A Gofundme page has been launched to offset the unexpected costs.

Tom and Kasia Quinn moved their family to Levittown, New York, America, where the Quinns currently reside. Tom, who is originally from Co Tyrone, Ireland, met Kasia, a New Yorker, and they decided to start a family in the US.

John's parents have stated that everything provided over and beyond what the family requires would be returned in order to start a fund for persons in similar situations. Elizabeth, a sister of Kasia, spoke to the IrishStar about John and the effects of his passing on his loved ones, the Quinns' acquaintances, and the neighbourhood.

"How does one move forward after such a loss?" Elizabeth said. "John was the sweetest, kindest, and loving little boy. He was a mush. His smile would brighten anyone’s day.

"He was funny, energetic, and full of life. John was the youngest of the four Quinn children. The children were together all the time. They were extremely close and it breaks my heart at their loss, their tears, their anger, the therapy needed.

"A GoFundMe page was set up for all the people who have reached out and offered help. This fund was set up in order to help my sister and her family with the unexpected expenses that they are now facing.

"They want to help with any additional medical, funeral, memorial as well as replenish the wages lost with an extended time out of work for John’s parents, Tom and Kasia.

"We want to make sure that they are able to be home with John’s three siblings, to be there for them every step along this journey of grief."

Elizabeth says that the GoFundMe is because not only is John's death so devastating, but that the aftermath comes with unexpected financial costs. "No one’s ever prepared for a loss as great as this one. I, along with many just want to make sure that they can grieve without worrying about how they will pay their bills and eat."
