THE ACTOR who played DS Aiden Healy in crime drama Vera finally reunited with co-star Brenda Blethyn after his devastating exit from the show.
But the detective duo reconnected at the National Television Awards where Brenda was nominated for Best Drama Performance - instead of on set.

Initially viewers were worried that the drama would be scrapped without Kenny playing DCI Stanhope's sidekick.
Thankfully, show bosses soon announced that Vera would return for a thirteenth series, with David Leon taking over as a replacement.

He said: "After 8 years & 35 Vera films I’ve made the difficult decision of handing over DS Healy’s badge. I can confirm I am leaving Vera.
"I want to thank everyone who’s made this amazing time so joyous, ITV, Silverprint, all the brilliant cast and crew BUT of course my buddy & inspiration Brenda Blethyn.
"The perfect leading star who I owe so much to.
"I feel lucky to have you as a friend, you make me howl with laughter & have been a rock for me over the years.
"I can’t thank you enough. Precious times."
Kenny was all smiles as he reunited with his co-star and friend at the London award ceremony.
Brenda remained positive despite losing the gong to Happy Valley's Sarah Lancashire.
