THE WORLD’S best free tourist attraction has been named - and it’s probably not what you’d expect.

Called Luc Vanlaere Harpist, the bizarre attraction is a museum in Bruges, Belgium dedicated to mini harps.

The visitor hotspot, run by harpist and composer Luc Vanlaere, was named the best free attraction in the world.

The study was conducted by Casago a holiday home rental company that based its findings on TripAdvisor reviews.

The firm researches which free tourist spots have the most five-star ratings and found that the Mini Harp Museum holds the top spot with 94.5 per cent of its reviews being five-star.

With more than 2,200 reviews, nearly all of them are 5* with most raving about the amazing free concert.

One previous visitor wrote: "Can’t even describe how cool this experience was, recommend to everyone in Belgium."

Another person agreed: "This is a hidden gem and an absolute MUST if you are in Bruge!"

Someone simply said it was the "best experience in Bruges".

Those visiting the museum can expect to see a collection of mini harps as well as a short, intimate harp concert performed by Vanlaere himself.

Entry is free but donations are welcome.

The museum is open Wednesday to Saturday at 3pm, 5pm and 6.30pm from April 1 to October 31.

It’s only open on Saturdays from November 1 to March 31. The museum is closed for the whole of June.

Second on Casago’s free attractions list was the National Museum of the US Air Force in the USA with 92.85 per cent of reviews being 5*.

This was followed closely by Horseshoe Falls - the biggest of three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls in Canada - in third place with 92.7 per cent 5* star reviews.

In fourth place was the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Centre in the USA, with Lake Bacalar in Mexico taking the fifth spot.

India’s Golden Temple, Thailand’s Lanta Animal Welfare Centre and and Argentina’s Cerro Fitz Roy mountain range also made the top ten.

Earlier this year, Which?, the UK's leading consumer champion, unveiled the best free days out in the UK - a list that included museums, galleries, cathedrals, and historic sites.

With over 7,000 participants sharing what they deem their favourite experiences, the list comprised the country's best-rated destinations from over 100 different venues, none of which cost visitors a penny to enter.

Topping the charts in the ‘museums’ category was St Fagans National Museum of History in Cardiff, with a customer score of 94 per cent.

Coming in closely tied with impressive customer scores of 91 per cent was the National Railway Museum in York and the Royal Air Force (RAF) Museum in Cosford.
