Unexplained bumps, noises and incidents are said to have upset preparations for last night’s live launch show.
Some fear a supernatural presence at the legendary Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire - where the 21st series of the BBC ballroom show will be filmed over the next three months.
From tongue scraping to saying no, here are 12 health trends to try in 2023Now Strictly stars want execs to hire a spirit guide or psychic healer to cha-cha-chase any ghouls away after suspected poltergeist activity.
Judges Motsi Mabusi and Craig Revel Horwood plus dancers Dianne Buswell, Katya Jones, Nadiya Bychkova and Nancy Xu are among those who are spooked.
A Strictly source told The Sun on Sunday: “To say some of the professionals are hysterical at the thought of having to go back and spend large amounts of time at Elstree is an understatement.
“A number of the dancers and even one or two of the judges have experienced things that they cannot explain.
"They’re so concerned they are going to have a meeting with producers, possibly next week, to explain their fears and get help.
“Several of them are going to ask the BBC execs to bring in an energy healer or an expert in ridding buildings of spirits and the paranormal.
“You could say it’s regarded as the real curse of Strictly.”
The show has been blamed for ending several relationships since it began in 2004.
But this year it seems the competitors have been experiencing spectral tension instead, often getting shivers alone backstage.
How to de-clutter if you have a beauty stash to last you a lifetimeThe spooky vibe has been heightened by bosses, dancers and celebs sharing ghost stories during planning for the Halloween special.
The source added: “Some of them have made it very clear they believe in the paranormal.
“They’ve been telling their ghost stories to each other and getting really spooked.
“But at the same time there is a genuine desire to call in an expert who can help relieve their fears.”
Movies and TV shows have been produced at Elstree since 1914 — including horror classics.
Jack Nicholson filmed 1980 supernatural chiller The Shining there, and the late Christopher Lee starred in a string of Dracula films on the site in the 1970s.
Yvette Fielding, who visited for a Most Haunted show in 2005, said: “Famous actors and crew would whisper to each other about personal objects being moved in the dressing rooms, showers being turned on full and worse, the sounds of children whispering and singing and men growling when no one was there.”
She also warned of the “Strictly curse” in 2021, saying she had felt the presence of a malevolent spirit.
Yvette added: “Let’s just say there might be a rather metaphysical reason behind that, too.
“I believe that the stars of Strictly should watch their backs — this particular ghost loves nothing more than to cause chaos and disruption.”
Last year, former Bros star Matt Goss, 55, told how he was visited by the ghost of his mum the night after he left Strictly.
Carol Philips died of cancer in 2014 but Matt said: “I just lay in the dark listening to music.
“Then a bag fell off a shelf and then I said, ‘Mum is that you? If it’s you, can the music stop?’
“And then the music stopped.
“Then it came back on and did it again.
“It happened about five times.
“This incredible, warm feeling came over me.”
BBC news legend Angela Rippon, Corrie actress Ellie Leach, comic Les Dennis, ex-tennis ace Annabel Croft, Love Island’s Zara McDermott, and newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy are among 16 Strictly celebs this time.
