Former UFC fighter Phil Baroni has been arrested in Mexico after allegedly beating his girlfriend to death.
A report from Mexican news outlet Tribuna De La Bahia states Baroni and his girlfriend, who were both under the influence of drugs and alcohol, argued at a hotel in the town of San Pancho. The argument is believed to have originated from Baroni's girlfriend revealing to him that she was having an affair.
Baroni notified police officers in the area that his girlfriend, who is only known as Poala, was unconscious inside a hotel room. The former UFC fighter is said to have thrown his girlfriend into the shower where she suffered a fatal head injury, with officers finding the woman naked on a bed inside the hotel room.
The report then states Baroni helped his girlfriend back onto the bed after she explained she was cold. Baroni then left the room to get cigars and alcohol, which his girlfriend had reportedly requested, and upon returning to the room he realised she was unconscious. Baroni then tried to resuscitate the woman but she died from her injuries.
The deceased woman showed "multiple signs of beatings" and "no vital signs" when officers entered the room. In pictures released by Observando la Bahia, the hands of Baroni were reddened in pictures and he could also be seen talking to police, with crime tape being put up outside the hotel room he was staying at. Police will now launch a full investigation into the murder as Baroni is being held in custody after being arrested for the alleged murder.

'The New York Bad Ass' re-signed for the UFC in late 2009 but was later released after consecutive defeats, bringing his run in the promotion to three wins and seven losses.
Following his UFC career, Baroni fought for Asian promotion ONE FC and even competed once for Bellator MMA. The 46-year-old was knocked out by fellow UFC veteran Chris Leben in his bare-knuckle boxing debut in 2018 and competed in his last combat sports event the following year, being tapped out by Sai Wang at a local event in China.
