Police arrested two men, aged 46 and 48, on suspicion of murder.

Det Chief Supt Sarah Jones promised to do everything to “see that those responsible are brought to justice” after the pair died in “such a sudden and violent way”.

At about the same time, 200 miles away in Slough, Berks, a 19-year-old man died after being stabbed despite medics battling to save his life.

Thames Valley Police put a 24-hour order in place giving them stronger stop and search powers.

They arrested two men, aged 19 and 21, and a boy, 17, on suspicion of murder.

A man, 53, and woman, 40, were detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police raced to Halifax town centre shortly before 4am yesterday to find three men suffering knife wounds.

One died in hospital, another was critical, while the third suffered a non-life threatening injury.

Elsewhere, a woman was charged with murder after a man in his 60s died from a stab wound in Bristol.

Christina Howell, 36, will appear before city magistrates today over the attack in St Paul’s on Friday.

Police said: “The Major Crime Investigation Team is leading the inquiry and treating it as a race hate crime. The family has been offered assistance by Sari (Stand Against Racism & Inequality).”
