One of Britain's cheapest streets has seen a home go on the market for just £25,000 in the last year.

But Meadow Street in Accrington, Lancashire, isn't some rundown backwater where locals warn you to steer clear or keep your phone hidden - it's central and the residents are cheery.

Noted, it's quiet, has no amenities and there's a boarded up pub - but it has close access to plenty of everyday favourites: an Aldi, Home Bargains, McDonald's and even a trampoline park.

It is made up of two rows of terrace homes made of charming stone bricks with ample parking spaces.

There are none of the mismatched designs or robotically identical facades you see in some of the newer builds.

This street has its own charm and character.

It instantly contrasts with the huge dual carriageway that line the bottom end of the road.

Property data lists it as one of the cheapest spots to buy in the UK over the last 12 months, reports LancsLive.

Relative newcomer to the street Muhammad Choudary has lived there for the last three years.

The 45-year-old taxi driver has a keen interest in the local property market and was dubious about potential property prices being so low.

"At this time, no I don't think it is the cheapest, three years ago my family bought this property - before Coronavirus - they were cheap then yes, " Muhammad said.

"But after coronavirus, no, it's gone up, it's gone triple the price. One house that maybe sold for £25,000 before the pandemic. After, the owner sold for £68,000.

"Because I have interest in property I look at the prices and I noticed that before the pandemic there are different prices," he continued.

"In Lancashire, there's so many cheaper properties in Accrington, Burnley, Blackburn, very cheap but now, it's equal."

Despite only living on the street for a few years, Muhammad says he's had no problems and finds it be a very family friendly area in the town.

"There was some disturbances when I came but that's all stopped now.

"Most people living here are families, you have a few families at the bottom.

"Some are older people, they just come, do their shopping, go out and then go back home - it's quiet, it's safe around here too now, I think."
