SCOTT PARKER is interested in replacing Michael Beale at Rangers, according to a report.

The former Bournemouth and Fulham boss has been out of work since leaving Club Brugge in March.

He lasted just over two months in the role in Belgium having previously helped both his previous clubs into the Premier League.

But the Scottish Daily Mail claims Parker is keen on getting back into the game and could rival old Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard for the Ibrox vacancy.

The pair played together at Stamford Bridge in Jose Mourinho's debut season.

But Parker later moved to Newcastle, then West Ham and Tottenham before both moved into the dugout.

Lampard is bookies' favourite for the role, with Pascal Jansen still high in the betting markets despite appearing to distance himself from the job on Wednesday.

The Gers are believed to be interested in speaking to AZ Alkmaar boss, and to Bodo/Glimt gaffer Kjetil Knutsen.

Ex-Gers Kevin Muscat and Derek McInnes also remain in single digit odds.

Steven David and Alex Rae are in interim charge of the squad, backed by coaches Steven Smith, Brian Gilmour and Colin Stewart.

They oversaw a lacklustre 2-1 defeat in Cyprus to Aris Limassol, while CEO James Bisgrove stayed behind to lead the managerial hunt.

Former PSV boss and Man Utd striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is another outsider who has seen his odds shorten across the board.

Former England boss Sam Allardyce has also spoken publicly on the vacancy and admitted it would be an honour to speak to the Ibrox hierarchy.

He told the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast: "That'd be interesting.

"If they came and asked me to talk to them it's be an honour at Rangers, wouldn't it - the size of that football club.

"Speaking to Alex McLeish and Fergie about it, it's just an unbelievable football club.

"Not that I'm actively promoting myself for the job, but clearly it's not gone well.

"He's only been in the job two minutes since they brought him from QPR."

Rangers head to St Mirren on Sunday with Davis and Rae almost certain to still be in situ.
