Beloved car dealership closes showroom... but new location is even bigger

A BELOVED car dealership has shut its doors for the final time - but its new location is even bigger.

The showroom has announced that it will move onto a new site as part of ambitious expansion plans.

The Perfect Car Company in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, has now begun letting out the larger Oak Garage plot near to its old Harlescott location.

It will continue to offer its retail operations as well as servicing and valeting departments.

Owner Mark Marlow confirmed the move, saying the company had "outgrown" their previous premises.

He told Insider: "We needed more space as we had just outgrown our previous site as we have got bigger and bigger since starting two years ago.

"Our new premises have a workshop and we will get that up and running.

"We didn't have an area to do that before, so this is a new venture to bring the servicing aspect into the Perfect Car Company, as well as car sales and valeting."

The 2,773 sq ft property will feature two workshop areas, a valeting centre and offices.

This is all in addition to the spacious forecourt with room for about 35 cars.

Toby Shaw, from estate agents Towler Shaw Roberts, added: "Oak Garage benefits from a prominent roadside location fronting the busy Hereford Road and provides well-appointed accommodation.

"We are delighted to have completed a letting to the Perfect Car Company and this move to Bayston Hill represents an exciting expansion for Mark Marlow and his team."

The news is a seemingly rare ray of light in the industry after a spate of closures across recent months.

One franchise with 20 sites across the UK paused the opening of new stores after suffering millions of pounds worth of losses.

And customers were left devastated when a dealership selling tens of thousands of motors to Brits shut up shop earlier this month.

Meanwhile, residents of a posh village say it is being ruined by roadworks undertaken to install EV chargers.
