The Galaxy ZFold5 caught the eyes of many tech fans as the newest addition to Samsung's pretty impressive foldable smartphone range, a feat rival brands including Google Pixel have battled to compete with. Amid the host of shiny new features, its steep £1,749 starting price certainly took shoppers by surprise, including us at Mirror Tech, which is why we're quick to spot the latest price drop.

Just like the huge £300 discount currently up for grabs at Amazon as the retailer puts all eyes on the biggest, and most bank-breaking, 1TB model. Dropping from an original price tag of £2,049 for this model, the foldable Galaxy is now on offer for £1,748.

Sure, that's still a mighty price to pay but we've never seen a £300 drop quite like it.

In fact, it's the cheapest price Amazon has ever stocked the model for having only ever sold the foldable set for £2,049 which we checked using the handy comparison site CamelCamelCamel - a tool we'd urge tech shoppers to check out before dropping a hefty amount on a new shiny phone.

What makes the ZFold5 so good for Samsung to set its very steep price? It's all down to its versatile and adjustable screen which, as the name suggests, folds out from a standard 6.2-inch to a mini tablet-sized 7.6-inch arguably one of the biggest phone screens on the market. And it's all doable thanks to Samsung's distinct Flex Hinge, which other brands have yet to master.

Water resistance and long-lasting battery life are also on its side, however, its distinct foldable design has been offputting for a few shoppers in the past with reports of a slight gap between screens when closed. It's another issue picked up by the rival Google Pixel Fold (still a mighty foldable handset in its own right) so we'd urge shoppers to look at the ZFlip5 Samsung phone too to weigh up options.

Also launched in 2023 it's part of the same range, the only difference is has a much friendlier price and a pocketable square facing device which flips up to a large phone scree, not tablet sized. Amazon has chosen not to reduce this model during its current sale, so Prime shoppers would still pay its usual £1,149 price.

A quick look elsewhere though and John Lewis are stocking the model for the same price but throwing in a free pair of Galaxy Buds 2 Pro - worth around £200 on its own.
