Who is Shawn Rhoden?
Shawn Rhoden was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on April 2, 1975.
His career in bodybuilding started in the early 1990s but he was a soccer player during his youth.
Shawn faced some obstacles at the beginning of his career including injuries that forced him to stop competing and his father's death during the height of his career.

He also faced alcohol and substance abuse issues, but he was able to turn his career around and return to bodybuilding.
In 2011, Shawn placed 11th in the Mr. Olympia contest and came third a year after.
He made history in 2018 when he won the Mr. Olympia title at 43 years old, making him the oldest person to win the title.
It led to the documentary Flexatron: Becoming Shawn Rhoden.
Flexatron was Shawn's nickname.
Rhoden left behind one daughter, Cora Capri, who he had with his former wife Michelle Sugar.
Just days before his death, the star posted a snap with his daughter saying she was his "reason and purpose".
Cora was born in 2015, with the former couple co-parenting their daughter.
Michelle posted ion 2018: "Co-parenting is hard.
"When two people try to make their relationship work with counseling and prayer in order to keep the family unit together but in the end decide to split, it's hard on everyone.

She added: "What's best for your child is to have both parents."
When did Shawn Rhoden pass away and what was his cause of death?
On November 6, 2021, Shawn passed away after suffering a fatal heart attack.
Generation Iron reported that Rhoden's trainer, Chris Aceto confirmed Shawn's death to close friends.
Fellow athletes, experts and fans began to post on social media mourning the late star shortly afterwards.
Bodybuilder Cedric McMillan posted on Instagram a picture of him and Rhoden together. His caption was only a tag to Rhoden's Instagram account.
What is the Mr Olympia contest?
The Mr. Olympia contest is an international event that has been held since 1965.
Those who want to qualify for the event must follow the guidelines set by the IFBB Professional League.
Women can also compete for the title of Ms Olympia.
