It's all going well for Wrexham ever since Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney came in, and the success is now pouring into the women's team.

Wrexham are chasing Notts County at the top of the National League, and this could finally be the season they break into the Football League. There's a huge long-term plan for Reynolds and McElhenney, but like all good owners, they're invested in the club as a whole.

Wrexham Women put six past CPDM Y Felinheli on Sunday, with Amber Lightfoot scoring four goals in the drubbing. And McElhenney took to Twitter to praise their victory, shining the light on Lightfoot specifically.

McElhenney joked: "Just the 4, Amber? Congrats! Another amazing win!" The Wrexham co-owner shared the full-time post that was tweeted by the women's account, and now fans are becoming increasingly invested in their results too.

One fan even responded: "Will you highlight the women’s side during the next season of Welcome to Wrexham?" Film crews have been spotted down there already, so it's likely they will feature.

The ownership of Reynolds and McElhenney has been a raging success so far, and the series Welcome to Wrexham has been a major hit on Disney +. Not only are the locals excited about the direction the club is going in, they've now got a huge following from afar.

Insiders have claimed that the series has raked in almost £4million, as it's been reported that makers Disney have made a profit of £430,000 per episode since it launched on the streaming platform last year. Seeing as Reynolds and McElhenney only purchased the club for £2m in 2021, that's some turnaround.

But they're not just in it for the money, as fans are loving how invested they are emotionally. Reynolds and McElhenney have regularly attended games in Wrexham, even taking trips to the local pubs as they mix with the community.

Paul Mullin is the main striker for the men's team, and hailed the pair for being 'down to earth' despite their celebrity status. "I think both Rob and Ryan are really good at making everyone feel comfortable, that’s one of their strengths," Mullin told talkSPORT.

"The way they were perceived in the world – which they are in their own right – as big A-list superstars, but for us they’re just normal people. They really try to get that across to you that they’re just like you, and they’re just really successful at their jobs and it’s the same as us, we want to be successful like them.

"They are great owners and they do keep in touch and have very open conversations, if you want to speak to them you can. They’re always there to give you a helping hand and sometimes they’ll check up on you and how the family’s doing which is fantastic."
