Francis Ngannou makes decision over appeal against Tyson Fury fight result

Francis Ngannou has opted to not appeal his loss to Tyson Fury because he thinks no action will be taken.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou lost his boxing debut to Fury by split decision last weekend Saudi Arabia. The controversial result wasn't well received as many fans believe Fury should have suffered his first professional loss on the night. Fury had to pick himself up off the canvas as he landed just 12 more punches than Ngannou over the course of 10 rounds.

Ngannou said the commission sanctioning the fight was supposed to be agreed on both parties, but there was confusion on his team's side as they didn't know it was being sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control. The Cameroonian believes no action would be taken by the British board if he tried to overturn the result.

"I saw the scorecards, one judge score it 96-93 and I'm like 'Which fight were you watching?' There is a lot of politics going on. Inside the ring, I didn't know exactly what happened in the fight. My corner and coaches told me I won. I feel like everything was against me, Who am I going to appeal to? I have no chance. I think that's just another way of humiliation," Ngannou told TMZ Sports.

"The rematch is what I want next the most. As for right now I feel like there is a lot of options for me, but I want to choose wisely, and I would go for the rematch first. My best scenario in boxing is to wait for Fury. If Usyk can step out and let me fight Fury, I'll fight Fury, then I'll let them do whatever they do.

"The result wasn't there, I think it was stolen from me. They robbed me from my result but I still think I have a victory in proving people wrong that I can do this. I'll go back, maybe do some MMA fight and come back with some people in boxing. I'm planning to fight potentially twice next year, maybe February or March."

Ngannou is expected to make his PFL debut before returning to boxing, but the MMA promotion's founder Donn Davis hasn't ruled yet his fighter's next bout taking place in the ring. Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder have already expressed their interest in fighting Ngannou following his impressive debut.
