The journalist and show host, 79, previously presented Come Dancing which was Strictly's predecessor.

The show was filmed in Blackpool and also aired on the BBC, but none of the contestants were celebs or professional dancers.

Viewers have been left suspicious that producers wanted Angela to get through to the next round in Blackpool because of her history with Come Dancing.

This comes after Strictly fans hit out at show bosses for choosing Angela as the winner after claims that her waltz was full of mistakes and "very unsteady".

Adam only lost the dance off by one point, and many viewers have been angered by the decision.

One disappointed fan wrote: "Bless Adam, he has such a good attitude. I would prefer he stayed over Angela. I think she'll go next, although the producers are desperate to get her to Blackpool."

Another hit out: "Pfft, clearly the Producers want Angela R to go to Blackpool. I’d have saved Adam and Luba."

A third called the dance off an "absolute sham", adding: "I'm gonna stick up for the Strictly judges. It is the producers who tell them who to save. The show executives want Angela in Blackpool."

A fourth shared that their confidence in Strictly has been shaken, saying: "Watching over the years you get the feeling the producers have their own agenda and out through who they want on a particular week."

Someone agreed: "Yes most definitely. I wonder if the public votes are actually used…"
