Noel Gallagher claims his fans are “disappointed” when they meet him.

The rocker, 56, once confessed his hedonistic house parties during the 90s gave his cats nervous breakdowns, and the Oasis star’s boozing with his famous pals at his house in Camden - called Supernova Heights - would last for days. After the Morning Glory rockers disbanded, Noel toned down his wild ways, and is now frontman of High Flying Birds.

But he confessed fans are let down when they meet him, as it’s usually in a supermarket while he’s buying his weekly food shop. “I can go to the supermarket now and do a shop for the weekend and no one will bat an eyelid,” Noel lamented. “I think people get a bit disappointed when they bump into you buying soup.”

He joked that his loyal supporters think he should be living the high life rather than doing mundane, everyday chores. “They kind of don’t want you to inhabit the same supermarket queue as them as they think you’re on a private jet with hookers, which frankly, is where I should be,” Noel quipped.

“But I’m f***ing buying brown rice or salmon. I can sense the disappointment in them. I’ve been asked many times in the supermarket, ‘What’re you doing here?’ I’m waiting for a taxi... what the f**k do you think I’m doing here. Just f***ing doing my own shopping,” he complained, as he shared his dismay over not having a butler “which is another thing I should have.”

Noel once admitted he used to bribe Oasis fans to go and get shopping for him when he was hungover, and said he “couldn’t remember ever going to the shops in the 90s”. He added: “ used to get fans to go shopping for us. They would go, ‘Can I have a picture?’ and I’d give them a shopping list and go, ‘I’ll tell you what, if you go and get us that I’ll give you a picture and an autograph and a cuddle as well.’”

The rocker sold Supernova Heights in 2005, but looks back fondly at the time he and then-wife Meg Matthews spent living in the hedonistic house surrounded by their celeb friends. “They were great times, it was an open house. I look back on it as just really fun, happy, hedonistic, carefree times. I didn't have any kids. It was great. That period from 1998, there were a couple of years that were a bit turbulent but I enjoyed it,” he told the Take 5 podcast.
