A mum has said her own children are terrified of how she looks after she was left scared for life in an alleged bottle attack in a nightclub.
Jeanette Irvine needed 11 stitches and her neck glued back together after she was left with a nine-inch slash following a night out in Arbroath, Scotland.
The mum-of-six and gran-of-four had been enjoying drinks with her friends after spending the day in the sun in July.
But the night turned sour when she was approached by another clubber, before a glass bottle was allegedly smashed against her face.
Jeanette said the gruesome wound from her cheek to her neck and a black eye frightened her children so much they wouldn't come near her.

She told the Daily Record : "Me and my friend were up dancing and then a girl approached us. I couldn't make out what she was saying because of the music.
"The next thing I knew I was on the floor and everything around me was spinning.

"Blood was pouring out of my neck. One bouncer ripped her t-shirt off to try and stem the bleeding. I thought I was going to die, there was so much blood everywhere.
"I looked like something out of a horror film.
"My own children were left petrified by the wound, none of them wanted to come near me. I could tell they were scared of me.
"It was horrible to see the look on their faces.
"They didn't even want to hug me in case they hurt me."
Jeanette was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and she was kept overnight while medics stitched up her wound and checked her for concussion.
Six months on, the incident had a long-lasting impact on Jeanette's confidence. She has been left with a scar that runs from her cheek down her neck, which she covers up with jumpers to avoid being stared at in public.

She has also been left with permanent pigmentation on her eye socket, which she covers with makeup every time she leaves the house.

She said: "I'm trying to put on a brave face every day. It's not just the physical scars, I am tortured by the mental scars, too.
"I still suffer from nightmares. I wasn't sleeping and I couldn't eat for weeks after it.
"When I go out now, I wear turtle neck jumpers so people can't see my scar."
"I still have the remainder of a black eye. Supposedly it is pigmentation damage and it won't go away. I have to wear makeup whenever I leave the house so people don't think I have a black eye.
"My head still hurts and my scar is sore whenever I wear a necklace."
She is now calling for a ban on glass bottles in nightclubs in a bid to prevent violence inside venues across Scotland.
She said: "I don’t know if someone has to die to change the use of bottles in night clubs and night time venues, but there needs to be a law to stop this.
"It will happen again and I do not want anybody to suffer the same way I am."
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A 42-year-old woman was charged in connection with a serious assault which happened at Millgate, Arbroath on Sunday, 10 July. A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and she was expected to appear at court at a later date.”
