Nestle has made the decision to discontinue the Animal Bar - leaving fans of the chocolate bar devastated. The news comes after the popular food and beverage company decided to axe the iconic Caramac bar.
The Animal Bar was first manufactured in 1959 and has been a hit with chocolate lovers ever since. It was originally sold by Mackintosh's under a different name until the chocolate bar was rebranded in 1963.
But tragically, sales of both have 'steadily declined' in recent years leading the confectionary giant to axe the popular bar. A spokesperson has said: "I can confirm that Animal Bar is also being delisted due to the low performance of the product and a steady decline in its sales over the past few years."

While another person wrote: "Aww, just the right size to kill a fast sweet craving off." A third heartbroken fan of the chocolate bar added: "I love this chocolate anol [sic]." "Never really liked white chocolate, still don't but had animal bars all the time as a kid," a fourth said.
Nestle confirmed it was axing its Caramac products in an email to a bakery near Edinburgh, which uses the much-loved bars to make eclairs.

The email read: "Unfortunately we had to withdraw Caramac from our range as sales were relatively low. It was a difficult decision for us because we're proud of all our products and don't like to disappoint our consumers. We hope you can understand why we took this decision."
Caramac was originally created by Mackintosh's and since it launched in 1959 it has been a mainstay in the confectionery world in the UK. The name is a combination of 'Caramel' and 'Mackintosh' and was determined through a competition held by the management team at Mackintosh's for their workers at the factory in Norwich.
