Federer always competed with the flag of Switzerland as he was born in Basel, but he is actually half Swiss.

And fans are just realising their favourite tennis player of all time has dual nationality.

One fan tweeted: "Federer supporting South Africa win the Rugby World Cup, didn’t realise his mum is South African."

Another commented: "My main takeaway from that is why was Roger Federer supporting South Africa?"

A third posted: "We love him. The half-South African. Our Rog."
