Francis Ngannou explains why he danced after knocking down Tyson Fury

Francis Ngannou danced over Tyson Fury when he was on the canvas because the Brit vowed to take him to school.

Former UFC champion Ngannou lost a controversial decision to Fury in his boxing debut this past weekend in Saudi Arabia. The hard-hitting Cameroonian was mocked for thinking he had a chance of giving Fury a run for his money, but he silenced his critics by going all 10 rounds with the heavyweight champion and only losing by one point.

Fury was forced to eat his words after the fight having compared the crossover clash to a table tennis player competing in a Wimbledon final. Ngannou has now revealed what Fury told him before the fight got underway and how the Brit's taunt came back to bite when he was dropped by a left hook in the third round.

"When we touched gloves, he was like, 'Let me take you to school.' I was like, 'You motherf***er, you're not taking me to school.' That's why when I knocked him down, I was dancing in front of him, 'You're a bad professor motherf***er.

"'How is that school going? Who is taking who to school?' For me, it looks like I was the one taking him to school. That was the language that I was expressing at that time. Who is taking who to school."

Ngannou admitted the enormity of the event did affect him as he feared he would embarrass himself in the fight. Many fans are labelling his performance as the best boxing debut in history and Ngannou explained why he didn't go for broke after putting Fury down.

"One thing that I was very aware of was that he's so good and so slicky, I didn't want to go out there and try to knock him out. I didn't want to go out there and throw heavy punches because I might miss,"Ngannou added.

"If this fight was going to the decision, I thought I might have had a hard time if I emptied my gas tank. I was very composed, I was very aware of his speed. Keeping my guard up and trying to watch him.

"I respect his skills, power and everything else, but I wanted to impose myself and style. One thing that happened is when I switched to southpaw, he did the same but he wasn't that confident because for me it was easy to avoid his jab. I'm more efficient in southpaw than him, my left hand goes faster."
