Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman has revealed why she will never get rid of her famous fringe hairdo.
The mum-of-three, 51, is one of the most well-known faces on TV, fronting Strictly Come Dancing as well as reality show, Traitors. Despite being praised by fans for her shiny signature fringe and iconic black eyeliner, Claudia previously said she 'likes being kept in the dark about what I look like' and will never part ways with her signature fringe.
As a self-confessed 'messy person', Claudia insisted that her fringe makes her feel put together and always ready to impression. When asked if she would ever consider getting rid of her signature hairstyle, Claudia said that she's worried she would lose her job if so. "No never. I can't, I don't even know what's under there, squirrels? Bowls of cereal?I've got absolutely no idea," she joked.
"I can't be without the fringe. We're together, hopefully, the fringe will always be there. I'm pretty sure that's why I got work, they'd go: 'Who's the orange one with the fringe again'. I've got to keep the fringe or I'll lose my job," she added to Hello Magazine.
Earlier this month, Claudia opened up about her eyesight difficulties, which mean she's never been able to see her own face clearly. Speaking on Elizabeth Day's podcast, the TV presenter explained: "I’ve always had terrible eyesight. A lit candle and everything is just a bit fuzzy round the outside. I was born, I think with minus 15 [vision], so I’ve never really been able to see my face. It’s all guesswork."
What Ola and James Jordan really ate and did to shed 7stThe Strictly Come Dancing host went on to say she’s had operations on her eyes because she was "banging into walls" and now wears lenses and glasses. "Everything is ish, just a vague idea, which is how I like to live," she explained.
It's been well-documented the star grew up without mirrors in her family home after her mum, journalist, Eve Pollard, banned them. Drilling into her daughter they were a "waste of time", Eve encouraged Claudia to 'look within'. Recalling her upbringing, the seasoned host continued on theHow To Fail Podcast: "We didn’t have any mirrors growing up, I had no idea what I looked like."
Claudia often jokes about her beauty regime, which includes lashings of fake tan, thick black eyeliner and her famous striking fringe. Admitting she 'doesn't care' what she looks like, she said she prefers to plump for "orange, black eyes, Tipex mouth". "I don’t want to suddenly go, I'’m throwing on a gloss and a bit of blush'," she claimed. "I don’t want to change what I do, I want to get decrepit looking the same."
The much-loved TV star has rocked her iconic fringe for years and thanks the hairstyle for boosting her sex life. Speaking on the first night of her show Behind The Fringe tour in Guildford, Surrey in September, she explained to her audience: "People ask, 'did you always have a fringe?'. And yes I did. People ask what I am hiding with my fringe – and it's a massive forehead that is repellent."
"I was born with six extra teeth like a little dinosaur. When people saw me smile they screamed. But when I was 21 and a virgin, I got my fringe and everything started happening," Claudia spilled.
Of course it's not just Claudia's famous fringe that gets her noticed – it's also her fake tan. The star, who once confessed to using Bisto granules to boost her bronzed look, said: "I like being orange, I think it is because I was born in 1972, I am an eighties kid so everything was like ultra glow."
