Christmas time is one of the best excuses to indulge in good food - however, chef Tom Kerridge has raised some eyebrows with a controversial festive burger, costing a whopping £16.

Tucking into festive-themed food is a great way to get you in the Christmas spirit, but this expensive burger, crafted by the renowned chef has received some mixed opinions.

The burger comprises a turkey, chicken and duck patty topped with veg, slathered in gravy and topped with cheese and costs £16 - or £20.50 if chips are included. It's been slammed by some diners at his posh pub. But others love the look of it.

Interestingly it's not the gravy that's causing the mixed opinion, it's the brown sauce inside the burger that has ruffled a few feathers. Some foodies slammed the veggie combo of parsnips and Brussels sprouts being inside, whereas others said the gravy would make it hard to eat and also turned their noses up at their being brown sauce in it.

Despite some loving the yuletide dish, many were put off by the price tag. The Festive Three Bird Burger is new to Kerridge's The Butcher's Tap and Grill pub in posh Marlow, Buckinghamshire, but after the announcement, many shared their dismay.

The Michelin star chef announced the burger on his Instagram page. He wrote: "Get ready for the Festive Three Bird Burger, now available at The Butcher's Tap and Grill, Marlow. A three-bird patty of chicken, turkey and duck with Wensleydale cheese and wrapped in bacon.

"Topped with a honey roasted parsnip, creamed sprouts and brown sauce. Complete with a jug of gravy - it's one partridge short of a pear tree."

However, one person joked: "It's beginning to look a lot like profit," while another jibed: "That'll be £95 please." Whereas others noted how hard it would to be eat with the generous amount of fillings. "Eat that with a knife and fork? Would be messy by hand with the gravy on the bun," and a second chimed: "It looks amazing but how do you even eat it?" However some were confused at the festive concoction and wrote: "What in God's creation is this."

Despite the outrage, some diners were a fan and couldn't wait, as one fan wrote: "Oh my God, that looks amazing." It comes after the TV chef was slammed for charging £275 a head for Christmas dinner which means it will cost a whopping £1,100 for a family of four to have their Christmas dinner at his restaurant
