A TRANSPORT union kept its former chief on the payroll despite announcing last year he was stepping down amid allegations of sexual harassment.

A probe found the TSSA still employs Manuel Cortes despite claiming in October he’d retired.

His then deputy Frank Ward even wished him a “long and happy retirement” in a parting message.

The investigation began after allegations of unwanted touching and demanding kisses from women who Cortes worked with.

He was only suspended yesterday with four other senior staff following Baroness Helena Kennedy’s damning report.

Her inquiry found “sexual harassment, discrimination and bullying” in the union.
