It's not Christmas without city centres being decorated with fairy lights, Christmas trees, quaint markets and of course shoppers dressed in the most festive attire they can find, beginning with jumpers. And high street stores are well stocked up on these kinds of jumpers, from the painfully garish and bright to the naked eye (but delightfully wholesome) to the chic and stylish.
And New Look is one of those shops whose Christmas jumper collection most certainly covers the latter, with its pieces ranging from cute pink slogan emblazoned knit to a chunky pullover decorated in sequined Christmas puddings - both equally as sweet without being excessively festive; they're a bit more subtle.
Now I'm not in any way stating Christmas jumpers should be quiet. I'm all for a loud jumper that has bells, whistles, tinsel, fairy lights and Santa singing 'ho ho ho', but sometimes, throughout the month of December, you might want to tone it down a bit.
With that in mind, I visited New Look last week to have a gander at their party wear and stumbled upon a number of adorable Christmas jumpers that work perfectly on a day to day basis in the lead up to the big day, December 25 - plus, a whole host of them are on sale and come under £30. I've listed just a few of my favourites to help inspire your next retail therapy trip.
If you want to make your regular outfit feel a little more festive, this jumper is perfect for adding a touch of Christmas sparkle with the embellished puddings and candy canes. The navy blue of the crew-necked jumper gives it a more classy edge - plus, it's super cosy.
Dog who 'always melts hearts' with his smile hopes to find a loving familyShoppers who were won over by this £22.99 beauty have said: "Perfect Xmas jumper, goes with anything it’s comfy and pretty with the sequin detailing." There's also a pink version here.

This jumper looks good enough to hit the slopes in and has a touch of sparkle to give off a lovely Christmassy vibe. Being predominantly white and blue, it's so wintery and is a great yuletide jumper without obviously being one thanks to its fair Isle pattern. Made from a mix of acrylic, nylon and elastane, the jumper, £35, has a lovely crew neckline and is super soft - making it great to cosy up in on the sofa or pair with some leather look trousers and heels for your Xmas party.

If you saw this jumper from afar on the rack, you would not think it was, in any way, a Christmas jumper being pink and oversized. But a little look closer shows it is has the word 'snow' written over it and a green trim, which in my eyes is positively festive and a great alternative to a classic jumper you'd usually associated with this holiday.
The £30 sweater also comes in a variety of colours and patterns - but this is the most appropriate for the season.

If you stick a bow on something it automatically (in December) makes it Christmassy. A low key option for some wanting to channel the spirit of the season without being covered entirely in sparkles, snowflakes and reindeer. The £28 jumper itself is fluffy, meaning its super warm, and has a relaxed fit so is great for layering up over a polo neck top and leather look trousers.

In now way does this have embellishments relating to Christmas on it, but this jumper is cosy, cute and in some ways makes you look like you're channelling a snowball... or a polar bear... both of which are pretty festive. So I class this as a Christmas jumper (but one that can be worn all year round). The wrap waist is so flattering and it's so comfortable - plus, it's on sale for £20 from £27.99. Snap it up here.
Sweet rescue dog with shy personality desperate to find a new best friendSaving my personal favourite 'til last - this jumper is cute, cosy, and not obviously a jumper that screams CHRISTMAS. Alternating pink stripes, the knit is decorated in subtly with the words snowflakes and jinglebells and what shocked me was the quality of it. I didn't want to take it off - it was thick, comfy and would be great dressed up or down. At £25.99, too, it's a bit of a steal and one person stated: "A very comfy, warm and cosy jumper just right for the Christmas period and those cold winter days and nights." At the time of writing, it had sold out on the website, however, in store (as you can see), it's still there!
It's not just New Look that fashion fanatics are loving when it comes to stocking up on festive fashion - River Island's 'Ho Ho Ho' red Christmas jumper is so chic as is this reindeer print number. Marks & Spencer, too, is always a great place if you want alternative Christmas jumpers (and classics) - such as this star-design crew neck and trending 'Wish' jumper.
