FORMER Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has left fans stunned by taking a shot at Tottenham on social media.

The ex-Gunner, who retired from football aged 34 earlier this year, is still fond of his old club.

When his former rivals Spurs fell to a 2-1 defeat to West Ham yesterday, Ozil couldn't resist making a barb.

Ange Postecoglou's side lost to the Hammers despite having been a goal up - and in doing so became the first side in Premier League history to take the lead in five consecutive games without winning.

They also lost their third home game on the spin after going 1-0 up, another Premier League first.

When stattos Opta tweeted out these facts, Ozil piped up.

He quote-tweeted their post, writing: "Who else should be able to break that record? Bottle Job FC is back."

The German left fans stunned with his tweet, with one replying: "Had to check if this was the real account."

While a second similarly wrote: "had to check the account."

Another added: "The fact this isn’t a parody account is absolutely mental."

Many football fans were quick to point out Ozil's beloved Arsenal's failure to win last year's Premier League title despite being eight points clear with a game in hand.

One asked: "Remind me the amount of days Arsenal spent in first place last season please?"

While a second tweeted: "How many PL did non bottling Arsenal win with you?"

A third quipped: Lmfaooo like arsenal did not bottle the title in the 90th minute last season the biggest bottlers."

And another added: "Arsenal are statistically the biggest bottlers in Premier League history btw."

The Gunners led last year's title race for 248 days, the longest period spent at the top of the table in the history of the competition without winning it.
