KING Charles beat Love Island in Google’s searches of the year in its “when” category, the tech giant has revealed.

Brits searched most for “When is the Coronation?” ahead of “When does Love Island start?”, it added.

Also in the top ten in the category were “When is the Coronation concert?” and “When did the Queen die?”.

Director Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster film Oppenheimer pipped Barbie as the most searched for film.

Cop drama Happy Valley, starring Sarah Lancashire, was No1 in the TV series category.

Friends star Matthew Perry’s was the most search for among celebrity death with singers Tina Turner and Sinead O’Connor in second and third.

Taylor Swift and Arctic Monkeys were among the most Googled music artists.

Google also revealed the world’s most searched for words of all time, with top spot going to the Great Wall of China.

Next came the Frozen movie song Let It Go by Idina Menzel.

Also on the list were the movie Deadpool and rapper Drake.

Matt Cooke, of Google News Lab, said: “As we reach the end of 2023, it’s refreshing to be reminded of everything we enjoyed throughout the year — which otherwise had its fair share of challenging moments for the UK and the world.

“We’ve had things to keep us smiling despite difficult times."
