A FAMILY was left baffled after spotting a mysterious silver object that appeared to be on flames floating in the sky.

The French-speaking family captured the UFO flying over Quebec, Canada, in broad daylight on camera.

Their footage, taken in 2018, shows the unidentified object suspended high up in the sky.

It appears to be rotating, and even changed its shape at certain moments during the clip.

The object is seemingly lit up bright red and green, and at one point even appeared to be on fire.

"Qu'est-ce que c'est," the French woman said behind the camera, which translates to "what is it?"

"It shines, huh? ... It shines!" she continued.

"It's a ship," a man in the clip uttered in complete shock.

"Oh! It flashed," another voice exclaimed in the background.

Canadian journalist MJ Banais spoke with The History Channel about the bizarre sighting and noted that Canada is "one of the few countries that actually logs and collects UFO data on a yearly basis."

He added that Canadians report spotting a UFO at an average rate of three times a day.

The journalist also mentioned that UFO sightings happen most often in Quebec, which is where the video was filmed.

Experts analyzed the metadata of the video and concluded that it is legitimate and not a hoax.

Astronomer and video effects designer, Marc D'Antonio believes that there is an actual object floating in the sky, it's just a matter of whether it's a UFO or not.

There do not appear to be any propellers on the object and it doesn't seem to produce exhaust, which terminates the possibility of it being a plane or a drone.

Clouds were also ruled out since it appeared to be a clear day in the sky, however, the sun could've been what gave the object a fiery flame illusion.

The History Channel brought in a second opinion and asked aviation and military analyst, Tim McMillan for his input.

He noted that the object had a very strong reflective surface, almost like a mirror.

Since the sun was reflecting off of the object, this could be why it appeared to be on fire.

He mentioned that it looked very close to a "bright, shiny, silver Mylar balloon."

The closer you look at the video, you can see the object's wrinkles and silver color resembles a half-deflated letter balloon, seemingly appearing to be the letter 'H' or even a 'J.'

While a UFO wasn't officially ruled out, the experts do believe it closely resembles a silver Mylar balloon.

The US government recently opened the conversation surrounding aliens and UFOs.

In July 2023, congress held a hearing that included testimony from a former Air Force intelligence officer, David Grusch.

He claimed the government has operated a secret "multi-decade" reverse engineering program of recovered unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAPs — the military's term for UFOs.

He also noted that the US has recovered non-human "biologics" from alleged crash sites.

The hearing covered ways the country can improve processes for reporting UAPs.

Grusch is expected to reveal more of his findings imminently, NewsNation reports.
