AN armed man who said he wanted to take his own life was shot dead by police last night.
Armed officers and a special negotiator were sent to a residential address following the 999 “suicide” call.

The man was declared dead at 9.30pm. A weapon, believed to be a rifle, was discovered at the scene, in Dagenham, East London.
Pictures from the scene last night showed a forensics tent in the property’s garden with police officers guarding the scene.

Watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct confirmed it has opened an investigation.
The Met’s own Directorate of Professional Standards had also been informed, the force said.
