Alejandro Garnacho scored one of Manchester United's greatest goals against Everton, but his celebration didn't do his strike justice according to some.

The young Argentina international produced a spectacular bicycle kick with just three minutes on the clock at Goodison Park on Sunday as United ran out 3-0 winners to pile more misery on the Toffees. Diogo Dalot's cross forced Garnacho backwards, but that was no problem for the teenager who netted a strike that has had everyone talking ever since.

However, amid all the intense praise, not everyone was delighted with the way in which Garnacho celebrated his sensational effort. Picking himself up off the floor, the ex-Atletico Madrid ace ran to the corner flag and performed a spinning jump, landing with his legs slightly apart - a move most commonly associated with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Some may view it as Garnacho simply tipping his cap to an idol, but others, such as former Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern Munich ace Arturo Vidal, feel it was a cheap act of imitation. The Chilean feels United's boy wonder should do more to be himself, rather than follow in Ronaldo's footsteps.

Speaking on Twitch, Vidal claimed: "The only bad thing or what I didn't understand is why he celebrates like Cristiano. He has to make his own name.

"He is an already great player. It's good that he is his idol, respect for that, but then he has to make his name. How are you going to celebrate a goal and remember it? I don't know, celebrate it another way. But it was a great goal, it was a great goal."

The comparisons with Garnacho and Ronaldo clearly left Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag feeling uneasy as well. He echoed Vidal's sentiment during his post-match media duties on Sunday afternoon.

"Don't compare, I don't think it is right," Ten Hag told reporters. "They all have their own identity, but for Garnacho to go that way he has a lot to come, he has to work very hard.

"You have to do it on a consistent basis and so far he has not. But he definitely has high potential to do some amazing things, it's not the first time we've seen this.

"We have already often seen glimpses, but if you want to be a player like Rooney or Ronaldo you have to score 20, 25 goals in the Premier League each season. That's not easy to get, you have to work hard, you have to go in areas where it hurts."
