NOTTINGHAM FOREST have appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as the new manager.

The club axed Steve Cooper yesterday with the club sitting one spot above the relegation zone.

Santo, 49, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at the City Ground.

He will take charge of his first game on Saturday as Forest face Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Santo posed for media pictures after his appointment with fans all left saying the same thing.

In the snaps, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves boss looked stony-faced despite landing a new job.

One fan commented: "Looks thrilled."

A second wrote: "Looks buzzing."

A third posted: "The lack of Aura in this photo."

Another joked: "Mr Marinakis, you must have misheard us - we said we wanted to see SANTA make an appearance at the City Ground this Saturday."

Santo was most recently in charge of the Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad.

He led the club to the Saudi Pro League title last season as well as the Saudi Super Cup.

During his time as Wolves boss, he helped the club seal promotion to the Premier League in 2018 with a 1st place finish in the Championship.

He will take charge of his first training session at Forest today.

Santo will be hoping to start with a win and guide his new team far away from the relegation zone.

Forest are currently 17th in the Premier League and without a win in their last 13 matches.
