However, a new second draft has revealed a THREE-tier system comprised of 64 teams in total.

According to Sky, the first two tiers, the Star League and the Gold League, are each made up of 16 teams.

The other 32 sides compete in the third tier, known as the Blue League.

And participation in the competition is based solely on sporting merit, with NO permanent members.

There will be annual promotion and relegation between the leagues.

And promotion into the third-tier Blue League will be based upon domestic league performances.

Clubs will play home and away games in groups of eight, meaning there will be a minimum of 14 games per year.

At the end of each season, there will be a knockout stage to determine the champion of each league, as well as the clubs to be promoted.

The new European Super League has vowed to NOT increase match calendar days beyond those contemplated by existing competitions.

And mid-week fixtures will not interfere with domestic league calendars.

For the first year of the competition, clubs will be selected based upon various performance-based criteria.

And there will be “Strong Financial Sustainability” rules to ensure a level playing field between participating clubs.
