POP legend Kate Bush raked in over £8million after her Running Up That Hill track shot to the top of the charts – 37 years after it was released.

The record – which became a hit after it was played on Netflix’s Stranger Things series - helped Kate, 65, triple her net worth at the same time as it broke three Guinness World Records.

It helped recluse Kate, 65, to triple her net worth and break three Guinness World Records.

Her achievements include oldest female to reach Number One in the UK’s Official Singles Chart, the longest time for a track to reach Number One on the UK’s Official Singles Chart, and longest gap between Number Ones on the UK’s Official Singles Chart.

Her only previous chart-topper was her 1978 debut single ‘Wuthering Heights,’ which means there was a 44-year gap between the two hits.

Running Up That Hill was first released in 1985 when it peaked at number three in the charts.

But it was embraced by Generation Z after being added to the soundtrack of the fourth season of Stranger Things, a sci-fi drama about a group of children battling a mysterious monster in a small town.

Now Kent-born Kate’s latest accounts show her finances have hit new heights.

Her Noble & Brite Ltd company banked £8.8m in 2022, so even after £2.5m was paid to creditors she retained over £6m net assets.

This resulted in her total equity tripling from just over £2m in May 2022, to £6.3m in May 2023.

The mum-of-one paid more than £2.4m to the taxman last year, accounts filed at Companies House show.

But the notorious recluse only gave one interview to the Woman’s Hour show on BBC Radio 4 to capitalise on her newfound popularity.

She said of Stranger Things: “It’s such a great series. I thought that the track would get some attention. But I just never imagined that it would be anything like this.”

Kate is reported to have sampled the noise of a fart when she was working on a previous track - so you can bet she’ll be blown away by her latest profits.
