NEXT time you're at the airport, you could find yourself more than £100 out of pocket before even going through security.

Posting their complaints on X, formally known as Twitter, several holiday-goers protested about having to pay a hefty fee after having just a few letters wrong in their booking.

Budget flight operator Ryanair is known for having some of the strictest rules for passengers.

And while having to change details on your flight ticket can be frustrating, many have have to pay out when they were just one letter out of the correct spelling.

In some cases, travellers have said the mistake resulted in the cost of a completely new flight ticket.

One exasperated traveller compared the airline's charges to daylight robbery, tweeting at the airline with the post: "Ryanair, £115 for a 4 letter name change within an hour of booking!"

Another Ryanair customer shared their disbelief when a friend's innocent error - misspelling just one letter of their name - led to the £115 charge to simply make the correction.

"Ryanair is such a mug how can my friend misspell one letter of my name and they want me to pay £115 to change," the tweet read.

One Ryanair flyer who was also hit by the fine highlighted the absurdity of the fee, especially when considering the cost of booking a new ticket.

In some cases, purchasing a new ticket outright can be significantly cheaper than paying the amendment fee.

They said: "Gotta love @Ryanair honestly, it costs £115 to change the name of a person on a ticket…yet to buy a new ticket there and back is £30?

"I know what I’ll be doing."

This policy not only raises eyebrows for its steep price but also for its lack of practicality.

It serves as a reminder to all travellers to double-check their details when booking – because a simple typo could end up costing you more than your holiday spirit.

This isn't the first time Ryanair, known for its budget-friendly fares, has come under fire for excessive fees.

Of late, the airline has been blasted for hitting customers' pockets hard with unexpected expenses.

Recently, a woman claimed her parents were hit with a £55 fee for printing the wrong boarding cards for their flight.

The fee is listed as an "airport check-in fee" and is handed out to anyone who doesn't turn up with their boarding pass either downloaded or printed out.

Two people who were stung by the charge were a couple in their 70s and 80s, who accidentally printed out the wrong boarding pass.

And some passengers have said they've been forced to pay up to £21 for a seat on the plane - or have to queue at the airport to get their boarding pass.

Here are some other ways Ryanair passengers get caught out at the airport.
