VETERAN Neil Warnock made a hilarious joke poking fun at himself after taking the Huddersfield job again.

The 74-year-old came out of retirement on Monday to sign a contract with the Terriers until the end of the season.

Warnock first took charge of the Yorkshire club way back in 1993 and guided them to promotion into the second tier.

That is one of a record eight promotions won by the straight-talking gaffer.

But in recent years he has shown his softer, humorous side - especially since joining Twitter.

And he was back on social media with a brilliant gag on Valentine's Day to leave his followers in stitches.

Warnock posted a photo of himself posing in front of a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton.

He captioned the post: "From one dinosaur to another ???? Not extinct yet ????????"

The post got a lot of love with more than 30,000 likes within six hours.

Specsavers replied: "Sack off Huddersfield and get on Live at the Apollo."

Jermaine Beckford added a series of laughing emojis.

Another fan commented: "'Warnockosaurus' legend, they don't make them like him anymore."

And a final user quipped: "Reckon Rexy could still do a job at the back, get him signed Neil!"

Warnock takes over at Huddersfield on Thursday, with interim boss Narcis Pelach overseeing tomorrow's clash at Stoke.

The club currently sit 23rd in the Championship, one point adrift of safety with 16 games remaining.

And in his 19th managerial job, Warnock will be desperate to help the Terriers stay up - possibly at the expense of former employers Rotherham or Cardiff.

The former winger, who took his seat in a dugout for the first time in 1980, said: “I’m really excited about this challenge.

“My first spell at Huddersfield Town had everything; we went to Wembley twice, moved into the new stadium, and really built the club from nothing. It was a special time.

“I’ve looked at the fixtures and we’ve got some fantastic games to come. I want to come back and put smiles on faces!”
