Man, 68, arrested over deaths of two women as murder police appeal for witnesses

Police have appealed for witnesses after a 68-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder over the deaths of two women.

Police said they responded to a call out to an area of Cheadle at 3pm this afternoon after the discovery of a woman's body. Another woman had initially been reported as injured but both women were pronounced dead at 3.50pm.

The force added that a 68-year-old man, from the same town, was arrested on two counts of murder. The force is now appealing for witnesses to come forward, Stoke on Trent Live reports.

A spokeswoman said: "We have arrested a man after the death of two women at a house in Cheadle. We were called to Park Lane to reports a woman’s body had been found and another woman was injured. Both women were pronounced dead at approximately 3.50pm. A 68-year-old man, from Cheadle, has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder."

Anyone with information or footage from CCTV or doorbells should call the force on 101 and quote incident 340 of December 31.
