THEME park loving Brits have been left devastated after Universal Orlando Resort prepares to axe paper maps.

Thousands of Brits flock to the theme parks every year to drink in its fun rides and attractions.

But this year their trips will look a little different after the the Florida park announced it would stop giving out paper maps to visitors.

Phasing out the theme park staple won't come as a shock to many as the resort has heavily encouraged guests to use the Universal app to navigate the theme park in previous years.

It comes after Universal Studios Hollywood made the decision to retire paper maps.

Disneyland Paris has also shelved the souvenir.

Meanwhile, Tokyo Disney Resort requests that guests use the Tokyo Disney Resort app or website to help plan their trips to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

As part of its sustainable push, Universal has implemented multiple procedures to reduce waste and conserve water.

The company also promised to switch out all of its iconic studio tour trams to electric vehicles by 2025.

It comes as Universal Studios has confirmed that they are considering launching a brand new theme park in the UK, with fans online getting excited about the possibility.

The rumours surfaced after Universal's owners Comcast and NBC registered the domain names UniversalStudiosGreatBritain.com and UniversalGreatBritain.com earlier this year.

The domains were registered in September, as can be seen here.

Meanwhile, Universal has now confirmed to Sun Online Travel that they have acquired land in Bedford and are exploring the possibility of building a park there.

A spokesperson said: "We recently acquired land in Bedford and are at the early stages of exploring its feasibility for a potential park and resort at this site.

"It will be many months before we are ready to make a decision to proceed and we look forward to engaging with all relevant stakeholders and the local community.”
