Craig Revel Horwood bit back in the perfect way after he was called 'horrid' and 'obnoxious' on social media.

He responded to the random twitter attack by looking through the bitter followers' recent posts on the platform and pulling it up for the world to see. The user included the Strictly Come Dancing judge in the message - but he didn't miss the opportunity to hit back after doing some detective work.

The person posted" "@CraigRevHorwood you really are a horrid obnoxious individual, you should be totally ashamed of yourself" but there was no way the star was letting the remark slide, pulling the troll up before broadcasting his findings to his near 300,000 followers.

Craig was quick to replay and wrote back: "It seems Taff you are contributing to the toxicity. I quote from one of your recent posts “This has got to be the most toxic and unpleasant social media platform going .... at least you can feel cheerful on facebook... juz sayin'”.

There was plenty of support for the BBC favourite. A fan replied: "It bemuses me that people feel its OK to say nasty rude personal things if they add "just sayin" my nana used to do it, although she was a tad more articulate with "I'm only saying". Another said: "Having met you I can confirm. You’re FAB -U-LOUS Darling!"

It's not the first time he's come under fire for being 'rude' online. Last year a fan claimed they met the 59-year-old while going to see The SpongeBob Musical and took to Twitter to complain about the star, suggesting he was 'unfriendly' to them. "Just met you in the lobby going to see Spongebob Squarepants," they wrote. "You really couldn't care less for your fans. Could have been more friendly at least."

Craig soon noticed the tweet and took the time to set the record straight to the troll and to his fans. "Hi Lynette I’m sorry you feel that way," he said. "I stopped, talked & had photos with at least 30 people at interval. Hope you enjoyed the show darling!" Fans immediately rushed to the comment section to defend Craig and share their own experiences with him.

"We waited for Craig at the stage door in Liverpool following his performance in Annie and he was super friendly and took time for pictures and autographs with everyone," one user said. "Me thinks someone believes your act of being a bad guy on strictly. I admire you for the roles you play and dont't think you mind a good laugh in your shows. Thank you for everything you give to your fans," another posted. He replied: "And thank you for the support."
