Michelle Obama could match the number of Grammys won by her husband Barack Obama after being nominated for the Best Audiobook section of the awards.

The former First Lady is up for the Grammy for narrating the audiobook of her bestseller "The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times", which was published in November 2022. It is the second time Michelle is nominated for the Best Audiobook, Narration & Storytelling Recording category.

In 2020, she won a Grammy for her audiobook "Becoming" in which she shared her journey, from a little girl from the South Side of Chicago to lawyer and then First Lady of the United States. And if she wins again this year, she will not only add the award to her trophy collection, but she will even tie her husband.

The former US president won two Grammy Awards, both in the "Best Spoken Word Album" category for his memoirs "Dreams from My Father" in 2006 and "The Audacity of Hope" in 2008. He won both of them before being elected as President in 2009.

This year, other nominees in the audiobook category are Meryl Streep (Big Tree), William Shatner (Boldly Go: Reflections On A Life Of Awe And Wonder), Rick Rubin (The Creative Act: A Way Of Being) and Senator Bernie Sanders (It's Ok To Be Angry About Capitalism). Currently, only four people have won this award more than once - including Barack Obama and director Orson Welles, as well as Jimmy Carter and Maya Angelou.

If she is named the winner of the award, Michelle will become the first former First Lady to win this Grammy more than once. Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton collected the award in 1997 but has yet to get another prize.

This year's Grammys will take place on February 4 at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles. The event will air live on CBS and will stream on Paramount+. Three new categories will debut this year: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording.

A couple of months ago, we reported that the Grammys seating plan had been plunged into chaos by claims made against rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. Organisers normally only have to worry about the egos of the stars in the room, but in the wake of rape and sexual abuse allegations against the hip-hop star a number of celebrity agents asked for their clients to be seated away from him. He has denied the allegations.

But earlier this month, The Hollywood Reporter reported that the 54-year-old rapper will skip the award show this year despite being nominated in the Best Progressive R&B Album category for "The Love Album: Off the Grid". According to the publication, he was not uninvited but is choosing to not attend due to the severity of the allegations.
