Another 'upcycled EV' version of a popular model, with an interior made from eggshells, has gone up for sale for £1million

ECO-LOVING Hollywood star Jason Momoa's 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II has been transformed into a fully-electric vehicle.

Originally powered by a 7.7-litre straight-six engine, the iconic car now features a "whisper-quiet" electric powertrain.

The American actor, who starred in Aquaman after rising to global fame while on HBO's Game Of Thrones, is a major car enthusiast and is passionate about the environment.

His most recent film and TV project, On The Roam, sees him travel across the country to meet people "blazing their own path", from craftsmen to motorcycle fabricators and musicians to athletes.

The inspiring Rolls-Royce conversion is set to feature in the series.

Momoa worked with Electrogenic, a company based in Kidlington, to transform his classic car into an electric vehicle.

He said: "In order to pull off this dream project, I had to find the right partner.

"I needed a team that would appreciate the stored history of this car while updating its technology."

The actor was eager to make his Rolls-Royce Phantom II electric without losing any of its character or charm.

Electrogenic director Steve Drummond said the massive undertaking had been a "labour of love for everyone" at the company.

It involved the car's original petrol engine and gearbox being removed and replaced with batteries that had been "precision-integrated" into the Rolls-Royce's existing structure.

A multi-speaker HiFi system with full Bluetooth connectivity was also added to optimise Momoa's driving experience.

Mr Drummond said it had been "a lot of fun" working with the A-list celebrity over the course of 18 months to "bring his vision to life", adding that he was "immensely proud" of the finished car and "humbled that Jason entrusted us with this landmark project".

The fact the project will feature in Momoa's new Discovery+ series On The Roam was just "the icing on the cake", he said.

News of the project comes after a major company's "upcycled EV" version of a popular model with an interior made from eggshells went up for sale for £1million.

The twist on the classic sports car was released by the conversion specialists at Lunaz Design, who took the beloved Aston Martin DB6 and turned it into an eco-friendly electric roadster.

It came complete with fast-charging, regenerative braking and a 255-mile range - and its electric motor laid down a hefty 375 horsepower, about the same as a M-series BMW.

Perhaps its most unique feature, though, was its interior made using recycled material.

The upholstery on the seats was created using waste cotton, while the veneer on the dashboard and gear stick was derived from discarded egg and nut shells.

Lunaz created the model in pursuit of "sustainable luxury".
