Yellow warnings for rain are in force for the east coast from Essex up to Newcastle, along with much of the West Country.

The downpour could flood homes, roads and train lines - sparking travel delays, the Met Office has warned.

A whopping 30mm of rain could fall in some areas covered by the warnings.

The yellow rain warning for the east coast will last until midday.

But the rain will carry on, spreading across the west and turning thundery.

The Environment Agency has issued 86 "expected" flood warnings and 271 "possible" flood alerts across England.

A few relatively lucky parts of the UK may see a mix of clear spells and patchy fog.

Monday will be breezy with sunny spells and showers, before the rain returns for good on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Temperatures will hover around the annual average, though mild in the south.
