A NEW season of a beloved crime thriller has broken records with millions of viewers tuning in for a series that fans rave is even better than the first.
True Detective: Night Country came out in the UK on January 15, 2024.
When it debuted the series had a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, and fans had high hopes that the new installment would grab their attention more than the previous two seasons, which had flopped.
It seems their dreams have been realised, as Night Country quickly became the most watched season of the show.
Since series four came out, a whopping 12.7 million people have tuned in to experience the chilling mysteries of the Alaskan tundra.

HBO revealed that the thriller has more viewers than hit shows The White Lotus and Succession did, and the finale hasn't even aired yet.
So far unlikely duo Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro have been sent out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of eight men at the Tsalal Arctic Research Station in Alaska.
Their bodies are eventually found naked in the ice - but during a postmortem the detectives discover they died of another cause before freezing.
And it seems like both of the women know more than they're letting on.
As bodies start to pile up and a strange symbol keeps cropping up every time there's a death, it looks like both detectives will have to face darkness from their pasts to bring the truth behind the murders to light.
Fans have flocked to social media to praise the episodes that have come out so far, with one writing: "True Detective: Night Country arrives at such an explosively interesting place with its characters in this week's second-to-last episode.
"The deep character work up to this point is paying off big time. The motivation behind every move they make is so clear. That's good writing."
Another gushed: "True Detective Night Country has been an awesome rollercoaster of a season. But episode 5?!?! That was a whole theme park. Wow. Just … WOW!"

The season finale is set to air on Sky Atlantic at 2.05 in the morning on Monday, February 19.
