A BEATLES nut changed his name to John Paul George Ringo Lennon — and has a grandson called Paul McCartney.

Born David Presley, he got fed up with being called “Elvis” so switched in honour of the Fab Four.

The 72-year-old’s family are huge fans too and his daughters also changed their names — one to Melanie McCartney and the other to Caroline Lennon.

John’s home is a shrine to the legendary Liverpudlians, and he still listens to their music for up to five hours a day.

He owns 100 Beatles T-shirts and wears a different one every day — and regularly goes out decked in a Sgt Pepper suit.

John, a retired fork lift driver from Bridgwater, Somerset, said: “I’m just mad about the Beatles, and I have been for as long as I can remember.

“Because of my old name, Presley, everybody used to call me Elvis and I didn’t like it. I love the Beatles the best.”

He said he first heard them on the radio as a kid. Although he never saw them live, he regularly goes to see tribute bands, with his favourite songs All You Need Is Love and Lennon’s Give Peace A Chance.

He has a Beatles moptop, Lennon-style glasses, and owns four pairs of trainers covered in pics of John, Paul, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

And each night he hunkers down in Beatles bedding.

John said: “My room is like a museum. There are life-sized posters of all four of them and I like to say ‘good morning’ and ‘good evening’ to them.

“I’ve got all their names tattooed on me and even a picture of all four on my left leg.”

He lives with daughter Melanie, 42, who naturally named her son Paul McCartney.

Her fellow Beatles fan sister Caroline has a son called Richard Lennon. John added: “I feel very blessed to have four fab grandchildren now.”
