The two clubs agreed a fee earlier this week as Spurs confirmed the acquisition of centre-back Radu Dragusin, who Bayern also tried to sign.

Dier has agreed an six-month contract, which includes an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

After his move was announced the former England international said: “This move is a dream come true for me, because as a child you want to play for a club like Bayern one day.

“Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has an incredible history. I want to help the team with my versatility in defence.

“I’m really looking forward to my new teammates and the fans at the Allianz Arena, which in my eyes is one of the best stadiums in the world.”

Dier, 29, will reunite with his close friend Harry Kane, who he played alongside at Tottenham since he joined in 2014.

The centre-back fell out of favour under Ange Postecoglou this season, starting just one Premier League game.

Daniel Levy was happy to let Dier leave on the cheap as a result, with fans praising his transfer dealings this month following the arrival of Timo Werner on loan.

One fan praised the Spurs chairman saying: "It’s January 11th and we’ve already made 2 signings (+ sold Dier and loaned out Spence)

"You have to give some credit where credit is due, well done Levy."

Another added: "I give Levy a lot of criticism but this time he’s really pulling through so he deserves some praise man."
